Steven Tylers Health Issues Force Aerosmith to Cancel All December Vegas Shows
The two 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickups will be used to reach families in need of a shelter, food, and more. Tyler also intimated that he took his current gig on American Idol partially as a way to slow down, get off the road, and rest his chronically painful feet. During interview with Oprah, Tyler actually showed her his foot (left), with which he still has issues. What they had to do was to cut some bone and take two knuckles out of my feet. The nerves that are in your feet are small as a dime, but mine were the size of a quarter, big and bulbous and traumatized to the point where they had to be taken out … So now there’s just phantom pain there, like a guy who gets his arm cut off and still feels his fingers.
The Aerosmith vocalist admitted to damaging his vocal cords during a performance in Long Island, New York on Sep. 10. “I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding,” he said in a statement.
- The 40-date run was to include a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve with the final show originally scheduled for Jan. 26 in Montreal.
- “He’s doing extremely well and looking forward to being back on stage,” the rep says.
- Georgia-based rock band the Black Crowes will join Aerosmith for the entirety of the tour.
- Liking what he heard, Tyler convinced Perry and Hamilton to ditch their band for his group.
- In May, the band announced Tyler had entered a treatment facility after he relapsed following 10 years of sobriety.
In April 2023, Tyler responded to his accuser’s suit denying all claims against him, and stating that she consented to their sexual relationship. He also argued that he had immunity as her legal guardian, and requested the suit be dismissed (Her lawyer suggested Tyler was “gaslighting” her). According to her own accounts, reported by the La Crosse Tribune, Julia Holcomb was 16 when she landed backstage passes to an Aerosmith concert in Portland, Oregon. Did Tyler become Holcomb’s legal guardian so that he could transport his teenage girlfriend across state lines and move her into his apartment in Boston? In other news, the band recently sponsored a pair of Red Cross vehicles for hurricane disaster relief in central Florida.
Will Aerosmith’s Tampa and Sunrise concerts be rescheduled?
“He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.” Aerosmith have pushed back the start of their Las Vegas residency by three months so Steven Tyler can complete a drug treatment program. According to a statement by the band, he recently relapsed following a foot surgery. Tyler’s doctor confirmed that the singer fractured his larynx in addition to damaging his vocal cords during a show earlier this month, which will require ongoing care, according to a Sept. 29 Instagram post by the band. Aerosmith has postponed six upcoming concerts for their farewell tour after Steven Tyler suffered a serious vocal injury, leading him to recover for the next month.
“We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve,” he said. The two tried and succeeded in getting pregnant, but Holcomb would wind up trapped in an apartment fire while Tyler was on tour. Accounts of what happened next vary — Julia says that Tyler told her to either get an abortion or hit the bricks. Tyler’s account involves doctors pointing out that the amount of smoke inhalation and exposure to heroin that the kid had been subject to would almost definitely lead to severe birth defects.

In 2009, he fell off the stage at a show in Sturgis, South Dakota and severely injured himself. A vocal injury to frontman Steven Tyler, 75, is “more serious than initially thought” and has resulted in all dates on the band’s current “Peace Out” tour being pushed to “sometime in 2024,” according to the band. There are a variety of issues that singers may face regarding their vocal cords. While Steven didn’t specify the specific diagnosis he received, his mention that he was bleeding indicates that he may have suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage. Vocal cord hemorrhages may occur in people who have had long bouts of speaking loudly, cheering, or a musical performance, per UCI Head and Neck.
The Truth About Steven Tyler’s Troubled Past
“I don’t think there were any bands that even knew what sober was,” Tyler told GQ in 2019. “He’s doing extremely well and looking forward to being back on stage,” the rep says. The musician reportedly left the facility last week and did more than the required 30 days, TMZ reported. “But today does alcohol thin your blood because of that moment … I am grateful and owe a thanks to them for my sobriety,” he told Haute Living. “There were no such things as rehabs; there were mental institutions. After scoring massive success in the 1970s, he and his bandmates “became very f—– up” on drugs, Tyler recalled.
In November, Steven gave fans an update on his healing when he shared a photo of himself in the mixing booth. “THROATS ON THE MEND… BUT MY EARS STILL WORK! SO IN THE MEANTIME… IT’S STUDIO TIME… STARTING RE-MIXING AEROSMITH AEROSMITH!” he captioned the Facebook photo. Tyler was joined on the “Peace Out” tour by longtime bandmates Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joe Perry but not drummer Joey Kramer.
The “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” rocker has had to cancel concerts for other medical issues in the past. In 2017, Steven announced that he’d need to cancel a run of South American dates due to “unexpected medical issues.” While he didn’t detail if he had vocal cord problems, he did assure fans that he’d be okay. “I am not in a life-threatening alcohol vs marijuana is one safer than the other condition, but I need to deal with this right away and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances,” he wrote. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,” Aerosmith said in a September post.
